Petition Delivery to the High Commissioner for Human Rights
The treatment of migrants at the US border, as well as migrants who have entered the country, is a clear violation of international standards and the human rights of migrants and asylum seekers by the US government. As such, the United Nations should investigate these violations.
In December 2018, the US Human Rights Network, Presente.org, Mijente.org, the Puente Movement AZ and Credo Action, among others, initiated a petition demanding the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the UN High Commission on the Rights of Refugees launch an investigation into violation of the human rights of migrants by the US government. The set of petitions have garnered over 80,000 signatures at Presente.org and CredoAction.org.
On Wednesday, February 20th, 2019 at 11:00am, this coalition will delivery the petitions to the Office of the High Commission for Human Rights in New York (primary office is in Geneva). The delivery will be made to and accepted by Craig Mokhiber, Director of the New York Office of the High Commission for Human Rights. The address to United Nations Headquarters is 46th St & 1st Ave,
New York, NY.
