The rally will occur at the infamous Northwest Detention Center where many members of the Cambodian and other immigrant and refugee communities are transferred from many places around the country, as their last stop before deportation and often permanent separation from home and loved ones.

Since last Tuesday, the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (UNWGEPAD) has been visiting the US for a fact-finding mission on the experiences of people of African descent in the United States. On Friday, January 29, they will release their preliminary findings at a press conference at noon EST at the UN Information Center in Washington DC.
