SQSP Update: Thank you for your support!Aug 18, 2020
Thank you for your support in signing on to our letter to California’s Governor Newsom, in support of the #StopSanQuentinOutbreak Coalition, calling for an urgent depopulation of people incarcerated at San Quentin State Prison.
The letter was signed by 40 organizations - thank you! Click here to view the full letter with signatories. The US Human Rights Network sent the final letter to Governor Newsom last week; we will keep you up to date with any movement or response.
This week the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed the 25th COVID-19 death of a person incarcerated at San Quentin, and the 54th death of a person incarcerated in all CDCR facilities. Currently over half of the SQSP population has been infected with the virus. This situation is out of control and unacceptable. It is a violation of the human right to health. Please continue advocating and spreading the word to pressure the CDCR to release people from San Quentin and other facilities.
Thank you for your ongoing support and work on the ground to fight for the human rights of all people in the United States.
