Call for Input | Economic and Social Rights Project

Feb 8, 2019

UN HR logoUnited Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, Philip Alston, is currently conducting research to expand  upon the Recognition, Institutionalization and Accountability (RIA) Framework set out in the 2016 Human Rights Council report (See below).

According to the Special Rapporteur, "lawyers have a tendency to overemphasize the import of both constitutional enshrinement and judicial remedies, and overlook the many other ways in which economic and social rights should be recognized and institutionalized." The goal of this project is to produce a resource that can be used by lawmakers and civil society alike to demonstrate the practical ways in which the realization of economic and social rights can become a reality.

To that end, the Special Rapporteur seeking input on this project. The call for input is available below and open until 29 March 2019.

He encourages those working in this area to reach out to his staff to share their experiences as related to this project. Please direct all queries and submissions to Anna Bulman at anna.bulman@nyu.edu
