Call for Submissions on Intimidation and Reprisals

Mar 18, 2019

In October 2016 the Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights was appointed by the Secretary-General to lead the efforts within the UN system to address intimidation and reprisals against those cooperating with the UN on human rights.

Reprisals and intimidation take many forms, from travel bans, threats and harassment, smear campaigns, surveillance, introduction of restrictive legislation, to physical attacks, arbitrary arrest and detention, etc.

You can find more information about the work of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on reprisals here: Issues/Reprisals/Pages/ ReprisalsIndex.aspx

OHCHR is currently welcoming submissions of allegations of reprisals and intimidation within the framework of the upcoming annual report of the Secretary-General on reprisals. The deadline this year is May 1st  2019.

Information about how to submit allegations of reprisals throughout the year as well as the 2018 report of the Secretary-General on reprisals are attached below.
