USHRN condemns Chabad of Poway synagogue shooting
May 6, 2019PHOENIX — Following the anti-Semitic shooting at the Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, California, the US Human Rights Network released the following statement:
The US Human Rights Network stands in solidarity and mourning with the worshippers at the Chabad of Poway synagogue and their community following the deadly shooting that took place on the final day of Passover. This hate crime occurred six months to the day since 11 people were killed at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pennsylvania.
The incident is only the most recent manifestation of growing anti-Semitism and violent hate crimes in the US. The Network unequivocally condemns all acts of anti-Semitism and hate based on race, ethnicity, faith, national origin, gender identity, and sexuality. Hate crimes are a violation of fundamental human rights; the US Human Rights Network will continue to speak out against acts of hate and hold the government accountable for inciting bigotry and violence.
